Day 1: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Depart from Kampala by road and head south-West to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will stop shortly at the Equator for an educative talk as well as taking photos and Mbarara for lunch.  You will go through Uganda’s rolling green hills through the Kigezi highlands, also known as the ‘Switzerland of Uganda’ and capture great views of the legendary “Mountains of the Moon”. Bwindi together with Virunga volcanoes of Rwanda and the Congo are habitats to the only remaining endangered mountain gorillas. We then drop down into a valley, to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home of the mountain gorilla. Tonight enjoy your meals and accommodation at Buhoma Community Bandas (budget) /Gorilla Resort (luxury) FB.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi

 Get up early at 8:00 just and report to the Park headquarters for a brief talk with the guide; from here you will hit the montane forest for an encounter with the mountain gorillas. Watch out for their voices and listen to them grumble and the young as they swing from tree to tree, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silverback. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas.  If you have the energy this afternoon, take a guided walk on the Munyaga River trail, which entails crystal clear waterfalls, a variety of flora, butterfly species and an array of birds. This is a haven for primatologists and ornithologists. The other option is taking a guided community walk among the Batwa inhabitants of the park. Return to Buhoma Community Bandas (budget)/ Gorilla Resort (luxury) FB.

Day 3: Lake Mburo national Park

After breakfast drive to Lake Mburo national Park, a haven for “impalas” small antelopes and herbivorous are most concentrated in Lake Mburo of all the Ugandan national Parks. There is more to impalas, Kampala; the capital city of Uganda was named after this beautiful animal. Check out the lovely Kigezi highlands and other wild scenery on your way. When you reach the park, do a game drive and check out Uganda’s wildlife besides the mountain gorillas in Bwindi such as zebra, warthog, buffalo, klipspringer, eland, oribi and waterbuck. Day 4: Boat trip on Lake Mburo

Have breakfast and proceed for a morning boat trip on Lake Mburo where you will admire several other lakes like Kazuma, Lake Bwa among others. Gaze at the huge hippos, crocodiles and buffaloes as they drink water. There are attractive birds to check out like Abyssinian ground hornbill, the crested crane (Uganda’s national emblem), saddle bill storks among others. After the boat trip, drive back to Kampala. You will stopover in Mbarara for lunch and take a last gaze at the equator in Masaka leaving you with everlasting memories of the Pearl of Africa, Uganda.

End of the Adventure

All Gorilla trips must be booked three months in advance and can only be confirmed depending on availability of gorilla permits
