1 DAY KAMPALA CITY TOUR

Kampala is commonly referred to as “a city on the hills” derived from it original location on 7 hills that provided the key points of orientation and identity; some of these hills are closely linked to colonial history. Rubaga hill is the catholic center; it is where the Rubaga Cathedral is found. Namirembe hill the protestant center where Namirembe Cathedral is found. Makerere hill which houses the prestigious and historic Makerere University Kampala the oldest university campus in Uganda. Kololo hill which is a diplomatic area and provides administrative offices for diplomatic missions, Kibuli the Islamic center, Mengo hill which houses the Kabaka’s palace and is a center for Buganda’s Central government and Mbuya hill where we find the biggest army barracks and hospital closest to the city center. A tour of Kampala gives the tourist two options:

EITHER: SIGHTS AND SOUNDS OF KAMPALA
This trail takes you to the Uganda Museum, markets in town, creative local arts and crafts markets, Bahai temple, Makerere University, the National Theater, Namugongo Uganda Martyrs Shrine, the Ndere Center, shopping in some of the Kampala Shopping centers.

OR: THE KABAKA’S TRAIL
This option takes you to Nagalabi coronation site, Kasubi tombs a palace turned burial place for three of Buganda’s Kabaka’s, Wamala tombs, Kitereke prison ditch, Ssezibwa falls, Kabaka’s man made Lake, Kabaka’s palace Mengo.
