This adventurous tour leads you to the wilderness in Kidepo and Murchison falls National Park of northern Uganda. Enjoy art and cultural experiences in Kampala before going out through rugged semi-arid villages of Uganda for memorable experiences of more culture and wildlife experiences. One of our company representatives will pick you from Entebbe International Airport and transfer you to your place of accommodation.
After breakfast at around 10:00am, our driver will pick you up from the hotel to orient you with a city tour all the way to Kasubi tombs a heritage site that exhibits a display of Uganda’s cultural heritage adorned with royal regalia of the late Kabaka’s (Kings of Buganda). After this 2 hours visit, we will have launch and then visit two of Kampala’s astounding art galleries for 1 ½ hours each. “Afriart Gallery“, a leading private art gallery with exquisite contemporary art by Ugandan artists. Later, we will also visit Umoja Art Gallery, a contemporary gallery aiming to revive Uganda’s cultural heritage while showcasing art works depicting Uganda’s daily life. Here after, you can choose an (optional) visit to either Buganda Road Craft Market, National Theatre Craft Market , Uganda Museum.
After breakfast, we will head eastwards towards to Uganda ceramics in Mukono to visit some pottery projects and craft weavers. Here you can learn how do pottery and also get to connect with some of Uganda’s finest potters. This 5 hours visit ends just in time for lunch and thereafter we take an hour’s drive with scenic back road views of Kampala city as we head to “Gallery Antique Uganda”. An old antiques gallery with really old tribal art sculptures, masks, old bead work and pottery majorly collected from East and Central Africa. This one hour’s visit leads us to Ndeere Cultural Centre for exquisite cultural experiences. Here we will have all Ugandan traditional dances performed on one open-air stage. activity not to miss. Dine at the center’s restaurant for a taste or try of Ugandan cuisine. Retire back at the lodge late in the evening.
After breakfast, at 7: 00 am, our guide will pick you from your hotel, brief you and drive north to the most beautiful protected park in Uganda. En route, we will stopover in Masindi for a late lunch. After we will arrive at your lodge in Murchison before the sun sets.
After an early breakfast at 6:00am. We shall go for a morning game drive that will leave you thrilled with amazing savannah plains and wildlife species such as warthogs, bushbuck, Defassa waterbuck, Bohor reedbuck, Oribis, Warthog, elephants, Uganda kob, Jackson’s hartebeest, buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, lions, leopards, giraffes, hyenas, among others. Early morning is the perfect time to spot the early risers before they return to their hideouts.
At 11: 30 am return to the lodge for lunch, relax and head out for launch cruise at 3:00 pm to the base of the Falls. On this cruise, watch out for hippos, crocodiles, elephants and amazing birdlife such as the African Spoonbill, Red-throated Bee eaters, Wire-tailed Swallow, White-crowned Plover, Rock Pratincole and Pel’s Fishing Owl. At the base of the Falls, (optional activity – extra charges) you can take a 45-minute hike to the Top of the Falls for splendid views of Murchison and Uhuru Falls. Your driver guide will be waiting at the Top of the Falls to drive you back to the lodge.
Have early breakfast, we will continue driving north to Kidepo Valley National Park through the countryside and rugged villages of Gulu an area that was affected by war from 1980-2000, then through Kitgum town and finally to Kidepo Valley National Park.
After an early breakfast, set off for an morning game drive in Narus valley to spot mammals like giraffes, elephants, zebras, buffaloes, oribis, elands, klipspringer and possibly other species such as lions, leopards and cheetahs. Narus valley is the only permanent water source in Kidepo so most animals converge here to cool off and have a taste of the fresh grass. This point collects big buffalo herds seen nowhere else. As compared to the Kidepo valley, more wildlife is seen at Narus valley during early mornings and late afternoon. Return to the Lodge have lunch and thereafter proceed for a community walk among the Karamajong people who have conserved their culture for over a century, it’s an intriguing visit, seeing the Karamojong still carrying the headrests, and bright colored red shawls around their body. Explore their nomadic pastoralist lifestyle, cultural dances, tradition, crafts and grazing fields. Return to the lodge.
After your early morning breakfast, we shall set off for another game drive to the scenic Kidepo valley savannah’s. This valley is short on game but there are some possible sights of lions, leopards, Burchell’s zebras, elephants, Kudus, Chandler’s reedbuck, dik-dik, hyenas, cheetah’s only existent here in the whole of Uganda. We will then continue to Kanangorok Hot Springs and in this area, we will spot the endangered gigantic ostriches. We will have lunch later in the afternoon and go for hiking in Morungole Mountains, enjoy the beautiful wilderness views and also get a chance to meet the endangered Ik tribe. Explore their unique lifestyle and culture.
After breakfast at 8:00AM, our journey through Kitgum and Gulu to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. On the way, visit some weaving projects in Moroto town, self-sustained by women trying to make a living in Gulu from century old traditions. Proceed to the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking the next day.
After breakfast at 9:00 am, we shall go for rhino trekking. Zziwa is a proud home reserve of Uganda’s only endangered wild rhinos. Get a chance to see a reasonable number of wild rhinos freely wonder in the wild. This activity takes about 3 hours and ends just in time for lunch. Shoebill trekking and birding are (optional) activities. We will check out of the hotel and depart for Kampala after lunch. The tour will end when our driver returns you to your drop-off point.
